Skeena is excited to share that in August we submitted our Environmental Assessment Certificate application for the Eskay Creek Revitalization Project to the BC Environmental Assessment Office (BC EAO) and the Tahltan Central Government (TCG), who are co-regulators of the project. Major projects in B.C., including mining developments, are evaluated for possible environmental, social, economic, health and cultural effects.

Skeena is taking the necessary steps to obtain the required regulatory approvals for the Eskay Creek Revitalization Project. To date, we have completed the initial phases including engaging with Indigenous Nations and stakeholders and developing our application, which totals 15,000+ pages! Preparing the application was a massive undertaking involving the countless hours and collaboration of many Skeena team members and First Nations partners.

As part of our engagement efforts, Skeena members visited the Tahltan communities of Iskut, Dease Lake and Telegraph Creek in June 2024 to share updates on Eskay Creek, explain the EA process and gather feedback on key issues for our EAC submission. The feedback received ranged from concerns about impacts on fish and wildlfe to questions about how the site will operate (refer to the accompanying graphic). We are grateful to the Tahltan Central Government for their support and participation in these events.
