In July, the Skeena team were privileged to join the Tahltan community at “fish camp” along the Stikine River to learn how fish are harvested in a traditional way. Tahltan families come from all over for the annual salmon runs. Children and youth also take part in an annual Tahltan Culture and Literacy Camp to learn essential Tahltan language, knowledge and cultural practices and what it means to be Tahltan. These events occur in the summer months in Telegraph Creek and Iskut, and Skeena is proud to sponsor the Culture and Literacy Camp each year.
